Here's the new ball of trouble - Marilyn. She's a Mix, some Maine Coon some Tuxedo. She came from a rescue in Sarasota and is around 2.5 years. She makes friends with everyone and is already taking over the house.

Mace Passed Away

July 21, 2022

This morning I had to say goodbye to my best buddy of 15 years - Mace. He had the sweetest and most gentle personality and a wonderful Cat sense of humor. I love him and will miss him immensely.

Tonga Volcano Explosion Pressure Wave

January 17, 2022

I heard that the pressure wave from the Tonga Volcano explosion was measured on weather stations around the world, so I went back and checked mine. Sure enough, there is the blip shortly after 9am.

Weather Station

December 29, 2020

I received a weather station as a Christmas gift. An Ambient Weather WS-2902C. I got it mounted to the Lanai out in the back yard. Seems to be in a pretty good location. You can view the live data coming from it on the Weather page.

Hurricane Dorian

September 3, 2019

Feeling thankful we didn't receive any real effects from Dorian. We're just getting a few outer bands. Sad for the folks in the Bahamas.

Website relaunch

August 14, 2019

Welcome to my relaunched web site! It was long overdue and the server I was using needed to be retired. I'm also no longer hosted out of my house, so if the power goes off, the site will remain. This site also uses responsive design, which means it should be usable on mobile devices. Click the menu at the top to navigate. It's a work in progress, so stayed tuned.

July 19, 2018 The Pacific Northwest

My 2018 road trip starts Saturday. I will be flying out to Portland, OR. From there I'll travel south down the Oregon Coast to Yachats, then East and North up to the Columbia River area where I'll also visit Mt. Hood. Then North into Washington State with Mt. Saint Helens and Mt. Rainier National Park, and finishing up in Olympic National Park.

I will be posting photos, videos, 360 photos and 360 videos right here...

Hurricane Irma

September 15, 2017 After the Storm

Well, looks like we survived that one here in South Venice for the most part. A convoy of power trucks came by yesterday afternoon and turned on the power. There are still a lot of people without power and I feel for them. It's pretty miserable in 90 degrees.

Wind gusts here in Venice were in the 70-80mph range. Just glad Irma weakend before reaching here could have been far worse.

Thanks for all the kind message people have been sending me via the site. I'm glad the view from the cameras was useful to so many of you.

Here's some edited footage from the cameras.
